- blank line between paragraphs
Parts of a Letter
- Date
- Example: June 1, 2012
- Inside Address
- Name, job title and address of the person you are sending the letter to
- Salutation
- This is the greeting
- Dear Mr. Smith:
- Body Paragraphs
- Complimentary Closing
- The goodbye
- Sincerely,
- Writers identification
- your contact info
Special Notation
- Typist Initials
- Initials of the person who type the letter
- Two lines below the writer’s identification
- Lowercase no punctuation
- Example: ejm
- Enclosure or attachment
- line below the typist intials
- Tells if anything else is in the envelope with the letter or attached to it
- Delivery
- Directly below any other special notations
- How the letter was sent
- Ex. UPS, FedEx, etc...
- Copy
- Names of other people who received the letter
- Ex.
- cc: John Smith
- the letters cc: should be left aligned - name is tabbed once
